6 Watts Peak Envelope Power (PEP) / 1.8 Watts Carrier Power
In high-power mode, the effective range is up to 50 nautical miles at an altitude of 5000 feet; the low-power 1-watt mode conserves battery power when parked at a refueling station. ±1 ppm Temperature Controlled Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) ensures frequency accuracy meets regulatory requirements for any ICOM aviation radio station.
1500 milliwatts of clear and loud audio
40mm front-facing speakers driven by a Class D amplifier deliver 1500 milliwatts of power output under an 8 Ω load. In addition, it features an Automatic Noise Suppressor (ANL) and sidetone function for easy headset use—allowing clear air traffic control communication without needing to increase volume, even amidst turbine whistling.
Built-in Bluetooth Hands-free Functionality
Pairs with any aviation headset adapter (OPC-2401), eliminating the need to leave the walkie-talkie cable in your bag. The iCom A16 supports VOX voice activation, allowing you to communicate while keeping both hands on the joystick during approach.
17-Hour Battery Life
The standard BP-280 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery provides up to 17 hours of battery life (5 hours transmit/5 hours receive/90 hours standby). A desktop fast charge takes only 3 hours to fully charge; an optional vehicle adapter maintains power for the iCom aviation band walkie-talkie during long-haul transit flights.
200 Preset Channels
Stores tower, ground, approach, Common Air Traffic Frequency (CTAF), and company frequencies using 8-character tags. The single-knob selector allows for easy channel switching even while wearing gloves—no need to fumble through menus in turbulent waters.
Compliant with MIL-STD-810-G and IP67/IP54 protection ratings
